Clutch Scrapping Sound

I am a new comer from Hong Kong and would like to know more about the clutch scrapping sound of my RunX (Corolla T Sport). What is the cause of the problem and will the problem be solved completely by replacing TRD clutch cover and plate and Tom's flywheel?

I think it is the same case. Sometime the scrapping noise is very loud especially when a/c is on.

I've got the same problem with you guys before. The scraping noise is more obvious when you do 3rd/4th gear engine braking. I had my whole entire clutch assembly replaced under warranty. It's ok now, but I still have some doubts if this is the best solution. I've seen on the aussie site that they've got rid of the problem by changing to a trd clutch and flywheel. You might want to try that option.

I have replace the clutch cover, clutch disc and bearing with stock parts but the scrapping noise came again after running for short distance. Did your Toyota dealer replace the flywheel also?

my dealer replaced the entire clutch assembly and the noise never came back. It could also be the case where I don't do half-clutches or excessive engine braking. These will cause early wear and tear I believe. Like I've mentioned, the aussie counterparts have had theirs replaced with TRD ones and solved the issue...

Hi Guys,

I have this exact problem and this is what i have had done.

The noise wasnt there until about 20,000 km was on the clock. I then got the dealer to replace the clutch cover, plate and bearing. After 4000km the noise came back and this time toyota would do anything so i purchased trd clutch cover & plate + toms flywheel. This DID NOT solve the issue but the noise stayed the same.

the 1 interesting thing the mechanic pointed out was that there is a little free play in the clutch area..... Not enough to be deemed a fault or anything and not enough to damage anything BUT enough for me to hear certain noises and he thinks its from this free play that i get the noise.

His comment to me was it may/may not wear the clutch a little quicker as it depends on the movement of the clutch when im using it but over all its not causing damage and its not outside standard specs so not much can be done from warrenty point of view.....

The outcome..... I have left it as is and just turn the radio on

I know others a looking into this so if they find a solution i will follow suit but for now ive spent enough time and money so im just ignoring.....
