D4d Steering Wheel Wobble Sorted..

...Recently posted about steering wheel shimmy between 50 and 80 mph, Toyota said it could be warped discs or out of balance drive shafts, had it balanced and aligned at ATS etc.., still wobbling THEN found this site on the net ....

O joy! I went to Drury Lane Diagnostic Centre, Oldham where they spent a long time balancing the wheels properly...(ATS had not removed the old weights)...they spent an hour properly aligning the wheels ATS had failed to do...and Hey Presto! no steering wheel wobble at all at any speed and handles straight and true.

My advice is never go to Kwik Fit, ATS or even Toyota, a proper small independent business depends on your repeat business so won't screw you over in favour of the fleet brigade. I'm a very happy person now.

That doesnt surprise me at all, I had a wobble on my old Carina E similar to you. Kwik Fit balanced all the wheels and it still did it, when I went back they said as it was old it was probably just wear in the steering and suspension bits. Then I found a little family run tyre place who said KwikFit had not balanced them properly and I left that place without any wobbles or vibration at all. So I agree with you its well worth hunting down a place that cares about you and your car.
