Hi all,

im looking to buy a carina Gti, its a 1993 on an L-plate,

What engine will be in that? is it the 155brake version or the 173 brake version? and how would i tell the difference?

Hi - not sure how the engines differ appearance wise, but the 1993 Carina GTi is the 155bhp version (according to the brochure I have at home. The engine was uprated mid-1994 as far as I'm aware (when the new Celica came out which shares the same engine).

Pre94/L reg carinas are a 155bhp gen2 3SGE, post94/M reg are a 173bhp gen3 3SGE :)

I'll see if I can hunt out some photos later on of the different gens on engine for you :D

Hey m8, i own a 1995 gti carina gem3 engine. i can tell you that the gem3 engine looks alot better and stronger than the gem2, if you want more info on this go to www.carina-e.com, i have an account there called bulmers,

Is he trying to find one in Turkey? As GTi's are like rocking horse manure in Europe unfortunately (and they cost a bomb to boot!) :(
