Unichip For Yaris?

Searching on eBay I came accross a yaris that to my suprise was a 1.0, and had been transformed into a rally car. All th usual stickers pasted on the car, seats torn out, recarro's and 4 point harnesses installed, racing breaks, open spoke wheels etc etc :D

then I read that it had been unichipped, so I asked the seller where they got the chip from. When he replied the guy said that he didn't know where he got it from as it was already on the car when he bought it :crybaby: :censor:

Only thing I did get from him was the performance statistics, i'll copy and paste:

I haven't done any time trials with it on 0 - 60 etc but I have got comprehensive figures on

performance.

For instance at 1000rpm the HP went from 9.96 to 10.96 and the torque

increased from 52.31 to 57.54. At 4000 rpm the HP increased from 35.86 to

43.82 and the Torque from 47.08 to 57.54. As the engine is a standard 1ltr.,

I think you will agree that these figures are quite impressive.

:o

I can't find unichip's or any kind of performance chip for 1.0 yaris on google either, so unless he's used one of those 'resistor' chips I don't have a bottle of glue where that chip came from.

There are a number of places to get a UNICHIP, Owen Developments are supposed to be one of if not the best places in the UK (also in Oxford)...

Can call them on 01865 821062 (ask for Dino)

Alternatively Millway Sports are very good, 01264 336344

Hope that helps

The unichip is a piggyback Chip so it doesn't replace the standard ECU it just enhances it, for this reason installing a UNICHIP on pretty much any car with an ECU will not pbe a problem.

The biggest thing you have to watch out for is where you get the chip installed as it is only as good as the installation engineer, finding it won't be a problem but be careful to go somewhere that is trusted as if you get a bad installation engineer you will not maximise on the benefits you reallyu could have had and then have to pay to get it remapped somewhere else !

so what you're saying is it doesn't have to be a yaris specific chip?

thanks rhaines

it's the intake air temperature sensor, every car has one but i'm having trouble finding it in the yaris... it could be any of 3 sensors i've found :S and i don't want to destroy the ecu lol

The thing with Unichip is, that they exist for every car - thus the name Uni(versal)Chip.

You can add it to any engine you want, but the gains aren't always great. For example in CTS it's 7HP...

I agree that the increase is not always that great, but in it's defence the car will be a lot more repsonsive, smoother power through the gears and a lot of people mention that it increases the fuel eceonomy although I am skeptical about that bit....

If you're interested in replacement chips as well, do check this place out.

http://www.autosport-fr.com/site_anglais/p...teforme_ang.htm

They are located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Their chips give impressive gains...

They also have chips for the Celica TS. (or Corolla TS)

Just a thought.
