The Guitar..?

Anyone?

Basically, i've just been given an acoustic guitar and have allways thought about learning to play. So now that I have one, I need to learn how to play the !Removed! thing! I've had it 2hrs and I can't play 'Wonderwall' :(

Any tips/advice for a noob?

Where do I start..? Gawd this is confusing [sport is soo much less complicated]

Depends, do you want to want to pay to learn???

If not, then hit google I'm sure there must be tonnes of websites that'll at least teach you the basics.

If your willing to spend some cash then either check the yellow pages for a tutor in your area, or buy a tuition book.

Or find a mate who can play, you must know someone who plays the guitar, everyone does. (I know about 7, but I'm not bragging or anything :P )

I used to play..a long time ago. best way is to buy a book and also take lessons. Itll cost a bit but once you have the basics you should be able to pick it up quite well :)

I used to play the guitar.. go out and buy those guitar magazines with cds etc... those and some books is how I learned.

It does take some time tho, so don't expect to be a Mr Hendrix in 2 days.

Funny you should say that.

I've just got one of those "Little brain surgeon" kits and I was going to ask the same question. ;)

Good luck with the lessons

We got our youngest (8) an electric guitar and amp for christmas.. he can play it quite well now.......

Only thing is, all he can play is DANG!!! DANG!!! DANG!!

Got some books and a proggy on comp called Guitar Pro v4.0.8 (never looked at it yet though)

Guitar Pro is a multitrack tablature editor for guitar, banjo & bass.

Besides writing scores, Guitar Pro is a complete tool for young and

accomplished guitarists alike to improve their skills, compose, or

simply accompany themselves. Guitar Pro offers such options as

listening, printing, importing and exporting MIDI and ASCII formats

(thus exploiting thousands of scores on the internet), transposing,

transcribing a score in standard notation, etc. Many useful functions

are also available: chord diagrams, metronome, tuner, assistants,

etc.

I do play a bit but mainly stuff like Metallica, Deep purple

But id say learn the cuords and then try to change between them and after a few weeks months you will be able to put some tunes together.

Ps

Wonder wall is hard

Best thing in all honesty is to get yourself just one lesson to start with ..

It will probably cost between £10-20 for an hour.

The guy will teach the basics like how to position your hand around the neck/fret board, and some key positions or scales etc.

THEN start playing away to your fave CD's, you'll probably start to get really into it once you can play a song that you really like.

Books are a great way of learning, and Tab is also quite good and readily available.

Don't give up, it takes a lot of time :)

Good luck!
