External Wastegate On Stock Turbo Setup?..

It seems that this is quite possible.

You weld the external wastegate onto the manifold, then either weld the stock wastegate shut or lock the actuator out.

Seems like not that much work and my garage could easily do it.

My question is tho... how is the boost controlled? My unichip controls the boost at the moment etc, but this is all to do with the actuator I assumed. So with an external wastegate, how do you control it?

I've been looking at some which say they are 9psi wastegates etc, what exactly does this mean?

ta!! :D

think of an external wastegate as an actuator with a built in valve.

9psi wastegate will not open till 9psi but a boost controller will hold the boost higher
