What Oil?

The same as what is in there already. Always avoid mixing oils if you can help it. They have different detergents in them and they are not designed to be mixed. Having said that, it's not absolutely critical, just preferential.

Check the handbook to see what weight oil you should be using, and find a decent branded oil to match. The more you spend, the better it tends to be. Really good oil is about £50 for 4.5 litres, but you really don't need to spend that much unless you're racing.

Give this place a call and see what they recommend for your car (tell them what weight oil the handbook says):

They really know their stuff.

Again - get the weight from the manual.........from experience there's a variety given in the manual, all depending on the likely weather. I think it's 10-40 for the UK, but again..........check it.

My advice would be to go for a really good fully synthetic oil - Magnatec. Very good and can almost feel the difference when starting and driving when the engine is cold.

Best thing to do would be to have the oil and filter changed at the same time and convert to Magnatec then - for best results, anyway. I've also always had an oil change every 5k in all my cars to help preserve the engine that little bit better. Just personal preference though.....

Indeed

I've just used them to put Motul 5-30 in my car.

Personally I would use a 5w-40 fully synthetic.

This will give better cold start protection than a 10w-40 as it flows more rapidly when you turn the key. Bear in mind that 80% of the engine wear occurs on cold start.

Cheers

Simon
