Iam lookin in to gettin one of these pocket rockets and just wanted to know which 1 is the better car the Glanza or the starlet GT turbo? This is my first post so forgive me as i know very little about either car.

Posted

id say glanza...just cause its newer, and it gets a WHOLE 2hp more than the ep81 gt engine ....and it looks nicer

Posted

Is there any diffrence in performance ie 0-60 ?

Posted

doubt 2hp will get you any difference...however, if memory serves me right i believe the starlet gt is SLIGHTLY faster cause its lighter....but seriously, you cant just base a decision of getting a car on " 0-60 "...

i havnt driven either, some other person will have to clarify on what these cars are like to drive, but id take the glanza anyday.....and while fast, ok they handle quite good for what they are but they arent great handlers, mainly cause the el chassis theyre based on isnt the most sophisticated or handling biased...but its decent....someone else want to make a case for the glanza :P

i belive your right riko, i think the gt turbo is slightly faster 0-60 because of its lighter weight.

I go Glanza, I don't like the seats in the GT, they make me want to boke.

i personally like the glanza, but streetracer starlets gt advance is growing on me....

The gt is faster due to weight and the glanza's boost is restricted in 1st and 2nd gear. If you have the cash go for a glanza.I didnt like the shape of the gt at first but my god i love it now. My seats are very nice actually, are you talking about the zig zag 1's?agro1.gif

I never liked the GT's hence why I bought a Glanza... and the 2hp more thing is only on the 98's and onward. the 96 and 97's are 133bhp same as the old GT's.

I dunno if my boost is limited  Will have to find out... It helps a bit getting off the line though :)

sorry to disturb....both gt and glanza shared the same engine which is 4E-FTE.....so the difference between both the EP82 and EP91 is almost the same....but the EP82 will be faster coz of the weight....

EP91 is more to the newer look and comfy ride....all depends on budget...personally will go for a Ep91 (glanza) if i got the money!

cheers...

glanza handles better aswell. the chassis is better setup. the ECU is also better on the glanza.

id go with the glanza personally if you can afford it.

yep the zig zag seats! don't you think they look awful! I suppose i'm a bit put off for other reasons, i went to see a starlet gt turbo and it had been smoked in and i don't smoke and the smell + colour of seats made me want to boke (grimsby speak for puke, vomit, err chunder etc)

Yeah mine is limited off 1st and 2nd gear, it's so !Removed!!

I really don't mind which starlet to get, cos i think the GTs are alright if they are in good condition. It just needs a little decorating :D

yeah, sorry I know that, just forgot to include that they both share the same engine...i believe that the 97+ glanza (135hp) got the extra power through more efficient emissions control or something along those lines...meh, id go for the glanza

I'd say go look at both and test drive them. And see which one tickles ur fancy,at the end of day you will be one driving it.

The choice is urs :P which will it be, GT or Glanza?

That glanza is real nice! Im still trying to work out the exact colour of mine. Still havent seen it in the flesh! :( Although its nearing completion now. Would anyone else say that mine is the same colour as the one in the pic shelly posted?

Oh, and I say go for Glanza aswell, purely on the better handling and being newer. Glanza and GT are both great cars!

Posted

yeah i think ur's is silver like the one in the pic

those wheels look awesome on the silver glanza

Posted

right then so, most of u reakon the glanza is the one to go for but how much iam at lookin at for a good one?. And how much do the starlets go for? . thanks for your help.

Posted

starlets would go for less than the glanza seeing as theyre older hence probably of a higher mileage...

im not too sure pricewise but im guessing that a good example of a low mileage glanza should be around £4500-£5500...a great example maybe even £6000, starlet GT's probably £3000 - £4000 for a good condition low mileage example...meh

Right thats not to bad. Are parts readily available for the glanzas? and do they respond well to tuning? ive got a 1.6 civic coupe(not the VTEC) at the moment and its so slow i need somthing faster and with modifying potential :)

Posted

well, as with any boosted engine there's always some potential. and i think the 4efte is pretty much well catered for, and luckily, the parts available arent those chavvy intakes or back boxes, but rather proven parts from reknowned companies, just ask round when you get the glanza, there's loadsa stuff

regarding response, well, i should say its quite good...just take rubix_cube's glanza, he's done only a few things to it but he's already pushing out more than 160hp i believe! one of the limiting factors though is the standard ct9 turbo...its quite small so it gets really inefficient when you try running anything above 12psi i believe...in which case you'd just get a new turbo (there's a few td04 kits for the 4efe / 4efte), new manifold, strenghthen the internals then you can go as wild as your imagination will go

All sounds good to me, Now ill have to try find me a black one and £5000 from somwhere. again thanks for the advice and may i also add this is the most friendly car forum ive ever been on keep up the good work.

I really like the glanza's out of the two,but also like the gt's so its up to u

PS...dnt think you should get any i dnt want em every where!!:P too many ppl are getin starlets an gts now :P lol
