Pay a lot more for the privilidge

You can import a car up to 1996 quite easily, after that it becomes much more expensive.

Safest bet:  Buy a car already in the UK, or get a reputable import company to do it for you.  You pay them for the import process, but you won't loose any sleep over it and all you do is turn up and drive away.

I've imported several cars inlcuding Starlets, Seras and Impreza 22B's

If you dont mind me asking, how much were you roughly for the starlets?

which company did you use if u used a company?

Cheers for the info, very helpful.

I've bought cars from various places.

Used cars I've bought from www.ibcjapan.co.jp, www.w-a.co.jp, www.ramadbk.com

New cars I've bought directly from marque dealerships.

The Starlet I bought for my Sera donor conversion was £ 1200 landed. It was mechanically good, although was a bit scruffy bodily.

Remember you can't visually inspect the cars, and whilst photos help, its not the same as seeing it in person. If you are unsure, or have doubts about the process, or simply can't wait, look in the UK as you can try before you buy, you can poke and prod things and you can walk away if you're not happy. If you import, you're stuck with the car, no matter how good or bad it is.
