Manged to hit a post on the way into my drive today, took the turning hundreds of times before :censor:

basically scratched the front right side of the car, just on the bumper (black) and on the skirt, looks terrible now!

Anyone no if I can just tough this up or if I need to replace th entire unit (hear taht they're about £400 to fit and paint :o ).

I'm in liverpool, so any suggestion in this area would be useful.

Cheers

Don't wish to dampen your spirits, but I had something similar last year. I reversed my 04 T3x into a low post. Didn't really do much damage, but took the paint off down to the black plastic and put quite a deep gouge in the bumper itself.

I went to my dealer who said it was cheaper and better to replace the bumper over-cover. Basically, they said that the time it would take to fill and sand the area perfectly, would equate to the price of a new bumper cover.

I was quoted £380 all in. Had it done throught the insurance. !Removed! fantastic job though. Mine is Carlo Blue and the colour match and the finish were first rate. :D

They even loaded me a Corolla T-Spririt as a courtesey car while mine was in (my insurance company offered me a Micra !)

Cheers

Having bashed the bumper of my older Avensis, I found that here in Turkey,

and I'm sure in UK as well, they can fix a bumper for almost nothing (ok, $40 or so)

for a totally bashed in bumper (I hit the curb while cornering).

They took it off, I drove around for two days without my bumper :)

and I was amazed that it looked PERFECT when they were done with it!

So if the insurance wont do it for free, or if it would increase your premiums, consider getting the bumper fixed..
