Sticking Caliper

:help: Had problems with my front n/s brake. After several strip downs/greasing sliders etc due to a sqealing noise it seems that the piston is sticking. Is this easily fixed?

Have pushed the piston in and out but this only cures the problem for 1 day then the noise returns.

Give the piston a good clean & polish and try again. A new caliper is around the 80-90 quid mark from Fennies. Thats exchange. £50 refundable surcharge. Hopefully it`ll come good. Are the pads wearing evenly?

yeah, the pads are wearing evenly.

When i bought the car a couple of years ago the n/s front disc was badly warped so i bought new discs and pads but the warped disc eventually resulted in a new n/s wheel bearing, since then i've done about 17000 miles on the new brakes without any problems but its the n/s thats causing problems again, could this be related or just coincidence.

Will I have to completely strip the brakes down to clean the piston or can it be done without having to re-bleed the system. What do you polish the piston with?

I had to do mine a couple of months ago. Painted the calipers at the same time. Stripped them right down. Popped the pistons out, renewed the seals. I used autosol to clean the pistons. It`s a bit abrasive so dont go mad. When you reassemble them make sure you lubricate the seals with some fresh brake fluid. Hopefully this`ll do the trick.
