not sure what the cars got, i know its got the air/temp sensor which plugs into the airbox and then there is a rather small connection to the throttlebody, havnt taken apart the intake so i dont know how many connections there are yet.

if i do have a maf sensor, how i would i go about cleaning it?

even it ifs the air temp/pressure combo, something may be wrong.

clean it with a brush and if necessary some meths, also check the contacts on the back of the connector.

the way i check that temp sensors are working is to check the resistance across the terminals at ambient temp. then chuck it in an oven at 45C for about 15mins, then recheck. if its gone down it should be working okay.

hope this helps

lambda sensor is on the exhaust, have a peak underneath and you should see what looks like a polyfilla'd bit of your exhaust pipe, just make sure you got a decent connection to it. that goes for all the sensors (air/pressure/maf) if you have them.

From what i have read on most vtec engines the actuation point is 4800rpm apart fromt s2000 which gets exciting at 6000rpm thats according (No pun intended)to the Japanese performance magizine s2000 buyers guide any way.

Turbo > VTEC

VTEC has to be one of the most overrated things ever. It was amazing stuff 20 years ago, but now valve timing is common in economy cars.

It's like "WOW! this 1.6 liter makes 160 hp!!" meanwhile you could build a 1.6 liter turbo with 160 hp that will have 160 lbft of torque at a nice low RPM and totally destroy the VTEC in real world driving.

No offense, I just had to vent about VTEC because it's sickening the way Honda fan boys in the U.S. at least, think just because you have a Honda with VTEC it's the equivalent of a turbo and they can blast past any car on the road.

this lad at uni, who happens to be a first year - so not that intelligent.

Thought it would be wise to bolt on a supercharger to his 1996 integra type R. Anyway he got it going alright, it was okay for a couple of months thenhe put his foot down and his pistons came through the block!!

The VTEC system couldn't handle the higher inlet pressure and because he didn't use high octane fuel the mixtures caused pinking/knocking. Over time, that must have put a crack in his block till eventually catastrophic failre. Shame it was a nice car and it was polished good.

what, he didnt get any block reinforcements, get it tuned or anything ?....thats quite silly...

i agree with scionic the vtec system is good but its nothin compared to a turbo. And the lack of power down low i the rev range is really annoying.

No but he did polish it :D

it spretty difficult to strengthen the block, without changing it. the piston gudgeon pins and crank should have been strengthened.
