Cheap Yaris (import?) From Toyota Dealer

I'm looking to buy a Tpot soon. Noticed this one in Bradford.

Only 5k miles and it's £7500, this is a lot less than similar non-import cars at other Toyota dealers.

I'm guessing it's cheaper because it's an import....

Should this put me off?

What are the implications of buying a import insurance wise and selling it later?

They say it's "full uk spec", so does that mean it'll be identical to one you'd buy in the UK?

*Confused*

Full uk spec, yes it should be identical... Implications are: slightly higher insurance maybe... Parts maybe different such as the wiring loom for putting Speakers in the back as was the case in my CDX.

Sounds good - take a look and maybe do a quickie insurance valuation online and see what sort of price it would be!

most of the TS are jap built so they are built in the same factor, so it should be the same get the full chassic number and i can find out the full spec on it for you if you want to put your mind at rest.

The word "parallel import" implies to me that the car is one exactly the same as one that was always meant to be in the UK from 1st registration, and is therefore a "parallel import" as it's exactly the same (parallel) to a UK one, just an import.

But hey thats just my view :D

See if it has the T-Sport badges and a roof spoiler, mine is a European import, and didn't have either of these. (The previous owner bought the badges, and my spoilers going on next week)

I'm guessing when you're talking "import" you mean the Vitz?

Well I can say we get more Vitz then Yaris in Malta, all of which are 2nd hand. Mine is. It had 40,000kms on the clock and no one of my friends guessed its a 2nd. Most of them take really good care of them ;)

YTS.

No probs with a parrell import.

As long as it has a UK spec notice with it.

My 1.3 CDX is just fine. The insurance cost was the same as a UK dealer supplied car. £145. fully com'.

Even told the insurance co, they said that was ok cos it had the UK spec notice sheet.

Its pos' that the Alarm may not be fitted as standard. So you might want to have one put in, if you wish to go down that road..

The only other thing, the CDX is not on the black mirror plates as a uk car. So what!

In Dec I got another Yaris, this time a D4D T Spirit.

UK car from uk dealer. Bulit in France.

Actualy cost les than the uk import.

So there are still bargins or should I say Good buys out there.

Would certainly do it again.

Any one whant an 03 (52)plate 1.3CDX 5 door for £8K ?

Corr is the car encrusted in diamonds or something? :P

I only got 7k for my 53 plate 1.3 T-Spirit, I doubt you'd get 8k for a 52 plate CDX!!

a parallel import is a UK spec car purchased in Europe..

It DOES NOT cost more to insure, as it is a UK car.

a grey import is one imported directly from Japan, and is japan spec. This IS more expensive to insure.

But wouldnt it be nice if it had a jap spec ecu - imagine all the mods that could go straight on without remapping - Blitz Supercharger and/or HKS Turbo conversion ...
