Hi

my brother (user 'ten millionm' at toc, but he's got no phone line now for his internet) may be selling his Paseo, and is thinking of trading it in, and we dont know how much its worth, so we would appreciate some feedback as to its value, you know what dealers are like - offer you nowt for your cars these days <_<

these are the details;

1996 N 1.5 Si

mettalic silver with hint of light blue

blue and grey pattern interior

electric windows

manual removable sunroof

Full service history

all the old mot's

completely standard, steel rims with trims

Sony r/c head unit with sony 10 cd multichanger with steering wheel control stalk.

paintwork very good

78K miles on the clock - but; at 75K miles, engine which had been previously repaired at a toyota dealership, head gasket and timing belt, lost compression, so had fitted; on 13/01/05

JDM 5EFHE engine fitted with - 12 month warranty, well under 25K miles guaranteed premier engine, aquired from http://www.apiengines.com/petrol.php at a cost of £630 + £250 fitting, including new oil, filter, plugs, leads, timing belt.

rear shocks are new

tyres are a year old

interior is unmarked

so, what do you guys reckon he should ask for this if he decides to sell it? private and part ex with a dealer?

he's 25 at the end of the year, but with a crash and claim on his insurance record - at 25 he can finally afford to insure more power.

any opinions would be appreciated.

regards

carlos

does that site do the fitting as well and do they include all that oil filter timing belts and all that you mentioned?? and where is it located? i really want to do a 5efhe transplant, itd be great if they would! that isnt too bad a price! pm me mate, thanks...

on price, id recking you'd be looking at £2250 - £2500....or maybe less, i got my 63k white si for £2750, discounted from £3500, and it had the alloys, cd player, abs etc....btw, are you sure yours is an si rather than an ST ? because the si came with a CD player as well as alloy wheels...

hey mate can you help me out on this? I tried contacting api by email and theyve been really rude - first they said theres no use getting a 5efhe cause its " the same as the 5e-fe with the exception of external emissions controls " then when I emailed them in response to say this wasnt true they just said " sorry, we cant help you any further "....that is just bull. and they didnt answer any of the other questions i asked, like i they could take in my 5efe as a trade in or if theyd recondition and fit a 5efhe i got externally...

Doesn't explain the stronger connecting rods, the different camshafts, the bigger injectors!

as well as the acis, higher comp ratio etc....

i think he got scared when i told 'im that! Meh, if this guy dont come clean, then i might just get an engine from you andrew, or wherever else i can find a low mileage one, then try get it reconditioned at api...meh

Not all 5E-FHE have the ACIS manifold.

There is reconditioning and reconditioning. I don't think it can be done well for the money.

they only supplied the engine on a swap basis for the one in the car, we had a local trusted mechanic fit the engine - he did it for £250 including oil / filter and belt. he's done a lot of work in the past on my own cars and vans over the years.

the car just has an S on the back - does that mean its neither SI or ST but an S ? my brother said it was Si....

ive put it on celica club for sale as i cant post for sale threads on here til i get round to joining - one of the members offered his 92 reg JDM GT4 as a swap!!

well from what you said i reckon its an ST cause I know that the Si is the higher spec'd model (i have one) and it has stuff like a CD player, ABS, Alloy wheels etc...

that is so weird man, i asked the guy if i could trade in my 5e-fe as a part payment for the 5e-fhe and first he said he doesnt have the engine and that its identical to a 5e-fe so is not worth it, then i corrected him in saying its more powerful bla bla bla, then he just sent me an email saying he couldnt help me further as if to shut me up, then i said that some on TOC had it done, and he said " this hasnt been done, we cannot help you further "...either theyre really rude or theyve got something going on...

and to andrew, yeah i know, but i like to think of it as a defining item from the 5efhe, and its the 5efhe engine i want, with the acis  meh, i dunno, api engines seem "good" on their warranty basis and descriptions, but their response to a 5efhe has puzzled me

??

dont know mate

when we needed an engine, they said they had a 5efhe premier engine, i checked the spec and said yeah - ok. paid for it, it came a few days later, by that afternoon it was in and running and a van came to collect the knackered engine.

all the paper work from APi, guarantee etc states 5EFHE

definately the root to go if you want NA power.

really? wow...that is truly weird. meh, how'd you contact em, email or what? i might try phoning them closer to the time when i want a 5efhe, but its truly weird...and i REALLY want a 5efhe (with the A.C.I.S)...quite badly :crybaby:
