Just Thinking

Right have found a cheap screen online and a cheap dvd/mp3 player for my car. I just want to make sure if the faciia adaptor will hold two NORMAL sized din units. have been talking with chriscanavan about it online, and he reckons it'll be possible. does anyone else reckon it will?

The fascia is a double din adapter. It also comes with a single din tray. This means you can either fit a single din and have a little tray to put your sunglasses/travel tissues in, OR a double din headunit for jap stylee mega entertainment (but your tissues will have to stay in your pocket, and the sunglasses on your head).

S0cks, you mean the adpator? The adaptor don't look like the coin section comes out, and the Facia looks too wide to fit any unit in without and adpator of some sort

Well the fascia is for Toyota's own double din units officially, you just need to find a double din adapter for it. I have the single one the same as in the 1st pic with the slot underneath... But if Toyota make a double DIN unit i'm sure u can find a bracket to fit 2 aftermarkets in!!

Or make one

u may just have to make a surround for the few mm left around the 2 units once in

Is it just me or from that photo, did it seem that the 7inch screen wasn't actually DIN size and possibly consequently why they fit together?!

Maybe i'm wrong as i am due an eye test! :P

Slightly off topic, but what site did you use to buy them from? just you say they very cheap there!

Slightly more on topic, couldn't you just find the number of the car owner who had that double DIN installed?

The car isn't owned by anybody....It's only arrived from japan a couple of weeks ago and is for sale. And i didn't buy anything yet, just wanted to see if it could be done before i bought them. Have opted for something else now though as it looks like the way i wanted to do it will give m too much hastle

A word of warning...

1: I wouldn't buy a cheap screen... Cheap screens generally have poor connections, and terrible quality... Also they can make the best looking DVD look terrible.. Why not spend another 100 and get proper one?

2: If you are going to buy a screen, at least ensure its TFT.

If its not TFT dont even bother

3: If you are installing the screen where i think your installing the screen, only people in the back are going to be able to see it, as a passenger will soon tire of looking down that far, and also i wouldn't recommend driving while watching :P

and even from the rear seats every time you change gear it'll be obstructed...

Have you considered a detachable seperate screen that can be on the dash, or mounted on the aircon fin thingies, and simply removed when leaving the car?

Thats the way forward me old fruit

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

1. Generally a lot of cheap screens also use components from larger companies, such as pioneer, panasonic etc, just these name are not displayed on the equipment, this usually making them cheaper.

2. Yes, it's a TFT-LCD Screen

3. I'm not installing the screen for passengers, as i hardly usually have any, it's purely for me and some business reasons :P And no, i'm not intending on watching it whilst i'm driving!

4. Yes, I have considered other screens, but believe that they are pretty tacky, i don't want extra bits and bobs on the dash relating to ICE
