For People With Oil Problems

After havin problems with oil loss in our car, we put it into a Toyota garage to get checked out.We where told that after they did tests we needed a new short engine.As we had a full service history and it was a Toyota garage that was deeling with it,they said we might not need to pay for any of it.The garage that was deeling with it also gave us a courtesy car for as long as we needed.Well we got a phone call yesterday (2 1/2 weeks later ) to say the car had been fixed without us having to pay for any of it.SO it proves that toyota must know there is a problem with this in the Avensis.Hope this cheers a few people up Also thought that the Toyota garage thats was dealing with this problem dealt with out problem very well.

Can you give us a brief summary of events from when it started and what you did etc. How much oil was it using? Any info would I`m sure be greatly received by many concerned people on this forum including myself.

We where told we were loosing too much oil,so the garage put in 3 litres of oil and told us to drive 1000 miles only ,then to bring it back in for more tests.During these tests we where told that we needed new short engine.If we proved we had a full service history with Toyota and we let a recognized Toyota garage do the stripping off the engine and they sent the bore mesurements in to Toyota,then there would be a good chance Toyota would recognize this as an ongoing problem with the engine.ours is an Avensis 1.8 vvti x plate. We put the car in 2 1/2 weeks ago and as i said before we got a call yesterday to say that it was repaired without us being out of pocket :D. Someone in an earlier post said that the engine is actually a 5 year warranty and not 3 years because off this problem.Hope this helps with your query.
