Panel filter if you want increased airflow, original looks and less induction noise.

Cone if you want increased airflow, looks and induction roar.

I`ve got a blitz SUS in a cold air box which is fine. Best build a cold air box if you dont want to suck in all the hot air from the engine bay.

At the end of the day the panel filter would probably give you the more bhp as it's in the original airbox still locked away from all the engine heat and giving you better air filtration that the stock element. But if you want the sound and looks then the cone filter would be the one for you mate.

choice is your buddy

i got a g6r.would i be better wi the blitz or a viper?(can get 1 cheap the now)

cheers

Personally i would go for the blitz mate as it would be sticking to Japanese performance parts. Many on her say a lot of good about the blitz induction and have never hard much comments about the pipercross viper. They are more common to be used on cars like corsa's and astra's etc etc.

cheers

As far as i remember when i had my yaris t sport and i asked them the same question they weren't really bovered with a performance filters fitted to the car. They where more intrested that you didn't fit engine mods. But saying this if you ever get a fault to the engine and the engine light come's on they will try there hardest to point a finger at the induction kit mate so be care what ever path you decided to go down mate.

I've often wondered if I should get an induction kit or a panel filter. If I could get an induction kit with either a heat shield or a cold air feed my mind would be made up but I've never seen either of these.

me too, im a bit unsure as to the benefits of say the blitz kit on mine exept induction noise (would much rather have more cold air than noise tbh) induction is next on my hit list after i get my TRD quickshift fitted (had it for 6wks and stiil not done it)

could always wait until some1 else does either of these and find out the results that way!lol

I did see in Max Power (for my sins) a universal cone filter type thing enclosed in a plastic heat shield.

These look like they could be what we are looking for but no specific application for our cars although some availiable for toyotas

BMC carbon dynamic airbox

UK suppiler/fitter

So they make one for the hi-lux and 1.0 yaris but not the 1.6 afe of which there must be 100's of thousands in the world! Brilliant!

yea i know barmy innnit  still looks like they could be good but your looking at 170 for the bits and then additional costs of whatever other parts you could need to make a reasonable fit, i think that its a bit ecessive for a 1.6 109bhp engine (there must be some gains to be had i mean 109bhp from a 1.6 twincam!) i think i will just invest in either the blitz or ramair sometime in the (distant) future.

£170!!!! Hmmmm.

I've often wondered how the 1.6 afe 16v, twin cam pushes out 109bhp and the citroen/pug 1.6 16v manages 120. I haven't even looked at other manufacturers.

Just seen that a local independent stainless steel exhaust fitter in Cardiff uses stainless steel piping to extend cone filters away from the engine. He also does Viper induction kits to fit your car. The shop's called pro-speed. Bet it isn't cheap.

Top Gear (linky up top of page under perf manifolds) the people i got my wheels from do custom fitted induction kits but thought that they looked a bit iffy (alll the filters they use are branded "top gear") at the time.

Maybe this is the answer?!

http://www.street-racers.co.uk/

look under K&N filters. 57i stuff. Looks like they've released a Generation 2 induction kit with a cold air feed and a heat shield. Cheapest I've found so far is £160.
