I have a Punto - an ELX - It is crap. <_<

Used ti have an A112 Abarth :group-cuddles:

I have been researching to buy a glanza, can u give some advice?

1 Thinking of getting a Jap import, good idea?

2 I heard there are handling problems, if so what are the best mods to rectify this?

3 The body is a bit ugly, what can i do to alter that Micra-esque ****?

4 Are there angel eyes or Halo lights availiable for this car?

5 Never owned a Toyota. Are they well built? What is their build quality?

Any help would be much appreciated Vite

First of all welcome to the club.

All starlet turbo's are imports, and u might find some around already in the UK. Handling is not that good on standard springs, a bit of lowering will do the trick. I don't think that the starlet's look ugly at all.

Angel lights? Somebody has done it to their starlet i think, think they are the ones they sell at Halfords or something.

You can never go wrong with a toyota if you find a good one.

Welcome dude.

1) Good idea as long as you get some reputable to buy the car for you. There are alot of ****ters over there now! Bear in mind that you are only able to get a 96 Glanza due to E-SVA laws.

2) A set of decent coilovers will make it handle loads better. Toyota themselves do a 3-point rear strut brace for £127 which also helps.

3) The body is stunning, whats wrong with ya?! lol, but I can see where your coming from with the micra thing. I quite like this Varis rear spoiler, bumper and skirts:

and a 98/99 spec front bumper looks wicked (if you can find one of course!!):

4) Dont do it!! To many chavs are getting these now and we dont want that image for our cars! They look good only on beemers!!

5) Build quality is brilliant like all jap cars. I read a post on another forum recently and there was a guy on there with a Starlet GT (earlier model) and it had done 176,000 miles and was still going strong! Only problem he had had was CV boot joint had gone. Look after them properly (regular oil changes etc) and they will keep going and going

Hope this helps ya fella...

Thanks mate.

What is all this about only being able to get a 1996 model in the uk, they expect new mots ect and payments? What happens if i register the car in an eu country and then drive it here, who will find me out, are the police told to keep an eye out on Jap imports or something?

secondly how do u know who to trust on the net when buying one? You just have to risk it?

thirdly i think angel eyes can look nice on hatches;

Correct mate! I got mine with newera imports. Regarded as being the best in the business. Paid a little over the usual price of them in this country but it is guaranteed to be in good condition. Mine also came with just over £2000 worth of forged lightweight zeit alloys and adjustable tein coilovers. Thing with newera is, you pay more than you would with others, but at the same time, you get what you pay for. If you wanna enquire about one, then fill in a form on www.neweraimports.com. Miguel is the manager and he will come back to you. The bloke who is incharge of conversions in the UK has just brought a Glanza over for himself at the same time as mine so he knows a thing or two about them.

Right, in answer to some of your questions, cars made in 1997 or over have to have what is called a model report to get them on the road in this country. A model report can cost upto about £6k i think. Ive heard that it involves crashing a car of that model and other such things. Because of how rare glanzas are, its not really worth anyone doing a model report (once it has been done, it can be sold or rented). Cars like the Integra type R DC5 have model report coz they are in high demand. Therefore you can only go for a 1996 spec Glanza. Afraid you cant do anything like register in ireland and bring it over as it still has to go through the tests.

They only way it can be done is if you live in Japan for a year or more. You can then bring a car over without it having to go through any tests when you move back here. Not very useful though is it!

Afraid that picture has confirmed my hatred for angel eyes on non-beemers!! ;) everyone has there own opinion though so I wont lay into ya about it!

Anyways, hope this all helps ya a bit. Feels like ive written an essay! Anymore questions, dont be afraid to ask!!
