Turbo Kits?

Can anyone give me any information on turbocharger kits for the yaris!

Does anyone know of anyone with one fitted as my main concern is the problems that the ecu causes and was wondering if anyone has overcome this problem and at what cost!

The reason i would rather a turbo is mainly down to cost as ive heard people mentioning that they are available for around £1500 but then how much sorting ecu????

Any info links would be gratefull!

CB

Give Mark Catchpole at tdi a call ... he talked me through all the details a while back ... basically the cost of the parts are the easy bit ...

kevin at ENVY can get the GReddy Turbo kit, i believe it may be good for the 1.3 aswell as the TS but dont quote me

it also comes with Emanage to sort the fuelling as far as i can remeber

roughly 1500quid aswell

Thanks for the info guys!

Does anyone know what kind of power output the give compared to the supercharger??

Also estimate of how much fitting and setting up would be??does envy do this?

fantastic, nice one camshaft

Whats the main difference between the supercharge and turbo compared to power, is the supercharger more constant, whereas a turbo will kick in at higher revs. If this is the case with fitting a turbo, will the car: ?

1) feel like a 1.5 till the power kicks in

or

2) feel more slugish say like a 1.3 then the power really kicks in

price wise a turbo seems the better option, with the added bonus of a nice dump sound  are there any other issues apart from the ecu which needs to be addressed when fitting these kits??

tempted myself within the next year so just getting all the info i can

cheers

I would love to give you an answer but I have not driven it properly yet,LOL, cause I’m still waiting for what I hope is the control for the airflow metre so its not working fully yet, at the minute it is missing a lot low down but when it clears itself its quick, feels as quick a standard TS, ill have it on the Dyno next Monday if I get the bits. ill do a proper write about it then. Thanks

i think there might be a HKS turbo for the 1.3 as well, but i'm not sure whether that would fit the 1.5 TS, there is also a TRD turbo for the Vitz RS that we cant get over here

HTH :)

supercharger is constantly on, uses more pertrol but theres no "turbo lag" it runs off a puley type of mechnism. Turbo should provide more power output tho.

well this is what i know, im sure someone will be along and have more info

well... you can get kits from USA designed for Scion... same engine as in the TS so I guess they should work... not sure about intercooler piping though...

it would be a doddle to fit for a half competent spanner monkey

i think the turbo was good for 150bhp, this is the kit i was wanting to fit before i got shot of it all

but i wanted to go mental with forged internals etc etc....

and worked out i was gonna spend the same money on the yaris as i did for a full rev3 mr2.... whcih is faster than a tuned yaris

ah well!

Would forged internals be needed if the yaris was running 150 bhp plus?

What is involved in this process?costly?

Jaxx did you ever get any quotes for turbo kits, fitting, and find out if the were any problems with the ecu on the kit you would have bought?(is there any kits that anyone knows of that willhave no problems fitting)

Thanks

kits that are designed for your engine are easy to fit and are completelly DIY-doable if you have the right tools and know how to tighten bolts...;)

ECU/piggy tuning should be left to the professionals though...

GReddy kit approx 1500 quid from ENVY and includes Emanage for fuelling i believe, which is a piggy back ECU, i have it for the MR2 and looking back in the compatability the 1NZFE engine is listed ;), nice piece of kit with a trick add on boost controller too

TRD kit from Fensport roughly 1800 but with major fuelling concerns, very little actually know about this though!

As for fitting.... DIY! thats what i would have done, stripped the engine out and built it in the garage

150bhp on std internals should be ok as the yaris turbos shoves roughly that out but i was wanting more than that... 200+ to be exact and major piston and rod work would have been required!

i think the Emanage may be a good solution for it all, after all it just works on modifying the fuel signal to the injectors from readings on the MAP sensor and can control ignition timing and like i say it is listed here in my manual for the yaris engine

alternatively have a look here ---> turbo kits

theres one there for the scion xB (same engine) which includes and intercooler and a 5th and 6th injector set up to help the fuelling, but i doubt it wont take some work to get it all to fit! i nearly went for it but wasnt 100% with all the electronics, however email them as they are mega helpful

What is actualy involved in strengthening engine internals?is it a process which is done to the standard parts or are new custom made required?is it very costly?any ideas!

Would love to turbo the yaris but would not want to risk damaging the engine!would possibly be feasable within a few months depending on afew things!!
