What Is Wrong With These people?

So I put my Corolla on eBay. First off someone looks at it, drives it, is very happy with it.

Offers me 1k, puts a deposit down, I cancel the auction.

They find another one in better condition elsewhere, and don't want the car anymore, fair enough, annoying but not the end of the world.

I relist the auction, clearly stating I've had my time wasted once, and bidders MUST contact me before the auction ends if they have 0 or negative feedback.

I cancel a few bids where people have 0 feedback.

The auction meets the reserve in the last minute, with a bidder with 2 feedback.

In the last 30 seconds, the next highest bidder wins the car but he has 0 feedback, and I've no time to cancel his bid!!!

So I ring him up saying what are you doing bidding without contacting me blah blah.

He comes this morning to pick it up, drove 200 miles...

Has a look at it, ah its too rusty i'm not buying it.

:ffs: :ffs: :ffs: :ffs: :ffs: :ffs: Waste my time and listing fees.

If it wasn't 7.45am I woulda knocked him out I swear :censor:

Aparantly (acording to a certain consumer TV Program) this is normal on eBay when it comes to motor vehicles, in fact there are more 'complaints' and 'incidents' etc involving motor vehicles than any other item sold/bought on eBay.

Sold plenty of cars on eBay before with 0 problems.

The fact is, he could've viewed the car, and didnt contact me.

Hi, My name is Ben and I think you know who I am. To everyone on this forum, I was the first buyer that offered to buy this car from the owner. Even went to as much trouble as to drive a round trip of nearly 170 miles to view it. I even put a deposit on it.

To be fair, the photos that you posted on eBay is not even remotely close to the actual condition of what I have seen. I still have plenty of photos of your mota. Put it simply, I gave up my £60 deposit after thinking about it over the weekend as I spoke to a local bodyshop on the cost of restoring the bodywork but based on the pictures, I am looking at a very very expensive full respray and welding work which would cost close to £1k for a good thorough job.

I am sure the person who won the second bid also thought that the photos which he had seen on eBay are the actual photos of the condition of your GTI. However, I would have bet that he was deeply disappointed with what he saw and walked away as I did.

I am now a very happy owner of a late spec GTI which IMHO is worth every penny that I have paid for. I have to give full credit to the previous owner which kept the car in as good a condition as possible for a car of this age.

If you want your car to sell on eBay, put the actual pictures of the car now and adjust your price accordingly. This is my advice.

I do not mean to discredit you or your car as it is now but I think this should be looked objectively from both sides.

By the way, I do not think that you have lost any money as you still had the £60 deposit to cover your listing fees.

PS: If anyone wants to actually view photos of this car as I saw that evening, email me directly.
