Hey Guys can you help. My remote controller will not open the doors to my Carina. When I open the doors with the key the alarm goes off and the engine immobolises. I am at a loss as what is happening. I've even changed the batteries in the remote controller but still no pleasure.

Please help ????? :crybaby:

yup that sounds about right, you can normally override the sequence by a series of button depressions or some other secret handshake.

I can try to find out from a guy that works developing thatcham gear and Toad alarms if you'd like, PM me.

the alarm i think is a factory fitted one.

Ok the bad news is that you didn't give a manufacture year, and there are 3 types of systems factory fitted, it could be any of them.

First off, make sure the batt in the keyfob is ok and stand as close to the car as poss when trying it, be patient with it.

If no luck open the doors and let the engine imobilse, put the key in the ignition and turn to 'on' and then press the 'unlock button' on the fob and try all over again

if no joy disconnect the car Battery for 30sec or longer, when you reconnect the batt press the keyfob, then wait 10sec and try again.

If that doesn't work its a trip to the toyota dealers i'm afraid as my mate doesn't know the work around (all alarms have them) for your car, although he may be able to research it for you as a last resort, woprst case is one of the wires to the alarm has been pinched and shorted giving the tamper circuit a false reading.

Sorry there was no easy solution.
