Knock, Knock....who's Here?

Hi all,

Just started to get some knocking from the passenger side rear, so took it to local garage and suggested the anti roll bar bushes that seem to give us all problems and they said they looked fine as did everything else. I said that they may aswell change them anyway because after reading these forums the general opinion is to change them as it's not allways apparent so they're going to be done on tuesday. I had ordered the part already from Mr T, but the garage say they can't fit customer bought parts because of the warranty, so I was wondering if this is the same for most garages as I'm thinking down the line I will need to fit new super strut parts and indeed any parts that need replacing and I'll hopefully be able to find the parts cheaper myself, especially when I go for gold.

Also, if the knocking continues after the new arb bushes, what else should I suggest?

I don't know a lot about mechanics but I can pretend to know, don't want to get ripped off, but I think I can trust this garage! There don't seem to be many regulars on here from the south west that can reccommend garages, so it's a bit hit and miss with me.

Thanks for your help,

steve

Sorry about the repeat of your message.

I'm new to this message thing. Just wanted you to know that I had the same problem. Had the garage change the ARB's although they could see nothing wrong with them. Noise gone. Mines a 1995 GT superstrut , seems this year is prone to this problem.

part of the problem with the rear arb bushes is the bar itself wears away where they sit on it. if it continues try wrapping a small sliver of bicycle inner tube the width of the bush around the arb first then put the bushes back on.

other knocking at the rear can be electric ariel inside rear quarter , fuel filler neck or the boot and surrounding trim.
