Gen 5 Timing Belt

How does one adjust the timing belt on the 3G SE engine,i have mine stripped down for a replacement belt but im f*$%ed :censor: if i can loosen the tensioner to allow the new belt to go on. i have a workshop manual from america but its useless. please help before i go completely insane :help::angry:

You need to remove the tensioner from the engine and compress it in a vice. There is a hole in the pin and you need to put something strong through to hold the pin back. They are notorious for leaking when they are reused, so if you see any fluid coming from it, replace it. It might be easiest to buy a new one as a matter of course.
