Anyone ever used DIY window tint film. Is it worth doing or does the result look tacky?

Was thinking seeing as its about £10 a roll i might as well give it a go..... or shall i just do it professionally?

In a word - no.. Haven't seen anyone that has managed to pull it off yet. Even the pro's screw up.. Tough job.

May as well try one window eh?

It's a bugger to get all the bubbles out, but worth trying for £10 a roll

Seen it.. looked tacky... and after a while it flaked and peeled off  But i suppose at 10 quid a roll it could be worth trying 1 window to see how you get on.

I think it's between £150 and £300, shop around a bit,

I'm going to be getting tints on my car sometime this year, I think i'll have mine done by the pro's,

Nah I'd say get it done professionally too - especially for something like that!

get a roll.

do one window yourself.

post lots of pics here.

then we can point to this thread everytime someone asks if they should try tinting their windows themselves :D

doing the side-windows is no problem... just find a good and well detailed DIY guide on the net... the rear window should be left to the professionals though - more difficult because of the heater... ;)

i wouldnt even bother, you have curved windows in abck to compete with, now imagine putting a a4 peice of paper round a rugby ball - creases appear

B) theres allways bubbles and creases

c) you can get hairs and other bits stuck on it.

d) hassel with takin widnows, cutting to right size.

i got a professional job down it was £160 all round, and it was a fantantasic very impressed.

I've used it loads, the film is quite good quality but not as good as the pro stuff

It takes a lot of patience to do but i'd never done it before when i tried it and it turned out ok!

Give it a bash!
