Auto Supra Stalling

Hi All

Has anyone seen or experienced this issue. It's only happened 3 times but it's very odd.

It's a Twin Turbo Auto Supra MkIV, and occassionally when slowing down to a stop (so under 20mph) the engine will just stall. IF you put it in N or P and restart the engine, it's fine, and you're away again, but it's happened 3 times and always when slowing down to a stop.

Any ideas?

Cheers

You fitted an induction kit reciently havent you? Did you reset the ECU?

Do this first and see if it makes a diffrence

Yep, just recently fitted a HKS one, but I think this happened before that was fitted. It has definitely happened since though

It's defenitely the BOV.

UK cars don't like vent to atmosphere BOV's due to the MAF system. Auto cars are particularly sensitive to them.

You may be able to get round the problem by tightening the screw down a bit on the back of the BOV (try 1/2 turn at a time).

Other options are either to buy the re-circulation kit for the HKS BOV or add the stock one back in parallel with the HKS one.

But it has happened before this was fitted.

This HKS BoV doesn't have a screw on the back (it's one of the newer ones, apparently HKS have taken the screw off the back as people were knackering up the valves by playing with them)

Vent to atmosphere BOV's are not recommended for MAF system cars.

When air passes the MAF its density and speed is calculated and the ECU knows how much fuel to inject. If you now go and dump a load of this air out of the inlet system the ECU won't know and will still inject the same amount of fuel and your car will run rich. Running rich is what causes the UK cars to cut out when people install vent to atmosphere BOV's, its a well known problem and setting the BOV up to stop the stalling can be very tricky if at all possible.

If you speak to a reputable HKS dealer they will tell you this and will try to sell you the recirculation fitting to go with the BOV.

If it was defenitely happening before you fitted the BOV then why didn't you fix the fault before modding the car further ?

I would check for an air leak somewhere
