Yaris D4d Death Rattle

Ok here we go again!!. Firstly im very very impressed with the speed at which my last enquiry ref trip computers on diesel was answered.

All i need to know now is does anyone out there have a d4d yaris, mines CDX spec, which rattles under load from about 2000 rpm to just above 3000 rpm.

Its a light mettalic rattling similar to driving a car with knackered small end/big end bearings.

The car has only done 25000 miles, and is annoying the hell out of me.

Its a safe bet that the car is now out of warranty (just checked, and the warranty expired a month ago today!!!).

The car is now in the hands of Sandhurst Toyota who are looking at it for me, but Im not gonna be surprised if they use the old "It's within acceptable limits " excuse and tell me to go forth (OR 5TH) and multiply.

From my last posting it is quite obvious that there is a wealth of useful and accurate info out there, so can anyone shed light on this for me please.

(NEWSFLASH. Just drove a 54 plate yaris, with average miles on and it doesn't rattle, not even slightly, and no i didnt take a petrol out by mistake, lol)

Thank you all for the site, and keep up the good work!!!

Its a mistake to go to Mr T outside of warranty, because they fabricate problems and charge you a fortune.

You might have been better taking it to average Joe's garage on the high street and getting him to have a look.

Could be something as simple as something loose, my gear linkage on my corsa used to rattle against the chassis when accelerating, i had it tightened and it was perfect after that. Well as perfect as a Corsa can get.....

I'm no expert though!!

Sorry to hear that Mark :(

I can promise you that mine doesn't rattle like that (its a 54 plate with almost 10K on the clock). As you know, that's just about where the turbo seems to kick in, so maybe its something turbo related.

On a completely different tack - my wee sister is going to move to Camberley in the summer. Is Sandhurst Toyota any good in your experience? Her Yaris is going to need its first service soon and I'd appreciate your opinions.

Cheers and I'm sorry I couldn't be much help.

Alan

Gotta agree with Rob (got it right this time! lol) - Mr T will charge extortionate rates to fix any problem out of warranty....

Your best bet is your average garage - perhaps ask your friends/family for a recommendation of a good place?
