but i think its something to do with american words and british words (even tho im not american..) for example: 'tomato' (and yes i do say it the british way.. )

Toe-may-toe / toe-mar-toe.......same thing, just whichever whay you preffer to say it.

I've always known the car as being pronounced so it sounds like the word "Sleeker".

Every person i have ever spoken to has also pronounced it this way, this is also the way all toyota dealers pronounce it too.

I think its a foreign thing pronouncing it as cell-ick-ahh....

Perhaps its like Jif & Cif - most foreigners couldnt say Jif so they changed it fo Cif - whole lotta good that made, but the stuffs still Jif to me!

Perhaps the US and Japan have a problem with the letter "e". I used to work with a Texan, who insisted on calling me "Imma" - no its Emma actually, but close enough!

I have a confession to make...

If you take a look at Catherin Zeta-Jones Lux ad. When I was teaching English in Japan, I taught some of my students to pronounce 'Lux Super !Removed!' which they thought they were saying it correctly. :P
