Pretty sure it`s a catch tank for the muck from the PCV system. Fitted as standard on the ST205 but not the 185 Had to spend money on mine. GRRRR :censor: :D

Not sure how you go about draining it though  But if you pop over to GT4OC. I`m sure one of the chaps or chapesses will put you on the right track.:thumbsup:

I would imagine it could do under certain circumstances. But it`s a service item, so if the cars been properly serviced throughout it`s life , it should be ok.

I check mine weekly when i do the oil/water etc and it`s usually got about a quarter inch of slushy water/oil in the bottom.

Marc check out these.

GTFours

GT4 ST185 Mods

These`ll show the principle. But i cant find any info on the 205 catch can, other than it`s supposed to have one as standard. I would imagine it`s the same for an import.

Dan. I`m surprised there`s nothing in yours. Does it have an outlet pipe? If so, where is it routed to? Have you checked the PCV pipe from the cyl head is not blocked.

boys on gt4oc say st205 cans stay relatively clean , until high mileage as does the charge cooler ( inter cooler ) , checking mine sometime this week .

Yeah. Mines mostly oily water. Probably cos i`m not getting any decent runs in it lately. My intercooler used to get a bit oily but only a fine surface coating. Stays completely clear now tho. :D

i was told earlier that if your breather system blocks then your car will start puffing oily smoke! I had better make sure mine is always clear methinks
