Hey hows it goin? First off id just like to say how impressed i am with this whole forum-very friendly and entertaining reading!Look forward to subscribing and posting some pics when i get my 'rolla.

I'm about to go pick up a free (from the family) '95 corolla 2.0 XLD. I was just wondering if anyone has some useful info on the car-i'v searched the net high&low but cant find anything, just a few rubbish pics of a crashed one (real confidence booster that one!!!)

Any info would be greatly appreciated, like power figures, what its likely to come loaded with, interior pics, any problems i might encounter etc...

Is the body/dash etc similar to the petrol version? Would like to sort some decent sounds out inside-any one got any ice advice for the 'rolla like speaker fitments etc?

Sorry if this is a bit of a big ask, cant contact the current owner and iv seen some pretty impressive replys on this forum before.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, cheers again, Seamus

ps-whens the next Scottish TOC meet?Anything in the Edinburgh area?

Welcome

P.S. I think you will find (if yours is the diesel powered version) that the engine in your car is actually a Peugeot lump.

The only Toyota diesels PSA Peugeot-Citroën had anything to do with were the 1.9D 1WZ used in the first few months of production of the facelifted E11 and the 2.0 D-4D 1CD-FTV. The 1WZ was completely a PSA engine, designed and built. Its lackluster performance made Toyota's own decidedly more refined 2.0D 2C models look sprightly by comparison. Though the power outputs were identical between the two, Toyota's 2C was two full seconds quicker to 60 mph. And on the 1CD-FTV, I've only heard from various sources that Toyota sought some help from PSA on it. So unless Toyota's learned a lot more about diesels, the Yaris 1.4 D-4D 1ND-TV and new 2.2 D-4D engines could also have some PSA input.

Back to the original subject... The diesel models shared the same interior and everything as the petrol models. I can't be of much help in speaker fitments, since I'm fairly sure your doors accomodate larger Speakers than mine do (US model). Mine take 4", but I've seen quite a few overseas that have 5¼" Speakers in the front doors. If I'm not mistaken, 6½" Speakers are what is in the rear on the strut towers. I have an old Diesel Car test of a '95/N-reg Corolla 2.0D GS estate (same model basically, just under a different name), I'll have to pull it out and tell you some of the specs. I do remember 72 bhp @ 4700 rpm, 97 lb-ft @ 2600 rpm...
