Hey ppl, Help very much needed. My starter motor has packed in on my car and i need to somehow get a model number of which motor i need. I phoned my local motorfactors and they have 4 motors listed for my engine, and unfortunatly i cannot remove the old motor, I have tried phoning toyota but they were no help what so ever. does anyone know where i can find a model number or how i remove the whole starter motor, as it is right underneath the manifold. It is a 4E-FE engine if that helps, 1.3 16v 5 speed manual. My MSN addy is fcuk_lad86@hotmail.com if anyone cld help me, cheers ppl!

The Haynes manual is well worth the money for do-it-yourself jobs. The starter removal is fairly straightforward, but a tedious job to get tools down there to do it.

I have 4 starters listed for the 4E-FE. To choose the right one, you will have to look at your VIN plate to see what month it was built in '95. They came in 0.8kW and 1.0 kW, and are interchangeable. Here in the States, my 7A-FE came with the optional 1.4kW starter (base is 1.0kW), but I was able to replace mine with a 1.0kW version (I wish I had just rebuilt my original one now!). The 0.8kW should suffice.

They are as follows:

5/92 through 5/95:

28100-11010 0.8kW

28100-10040 1.0kW

5/95 through 4/97:

28100-11080 0.8kW

28100-11100 1.0kW
