Quick Question

Ford own them apparently!

How Ford came to own Land Rover is particularly interesting. Back in 1994, BMW bought Britain's Rover Group (which included MG, Land Rover and Mini), and set about modernizing their product line. After an investment of several billions of dollars with little to show for it, BMW threw in the towel and looked for an exit. Basically, they divided the company and sold Land Rover and Range Rover to Ford for a reported US$2.9 billion in 2000.

Yep, Ford.

Incidently certain sections of the US Forces have used Land Rover for years/decades (US Marine corp and Airbourne Rangers being two examples) as a requirement for a 'Jeep' size vehicle is sometimes necessary as opposed to a cumbersome HUMMWV/Hummer/ Humvee (Call it what you will in military terms).

However in the past due to Land Rover not being American this fact was not widely publicised ...then when Ford (An American Company of course) aquired it, then it was acceptable to publically annouce on a large scale that they (US Forces) do use Land Rover... amazing!
