Well i wanna get some new seats for the front of my R reg starlet, i was wondering what seats fitted from the rest of the toyota range, new celica ones for example, how much work would be involved in fitting new seats? any suggestions?

And i would love some exhaust and air filter suggestions please cheap as chips please

i believe that Apex-i and HKS make some induction kits for them.

dont think new celica ones will fit, they wouldnt fit the paseo without a lot of work, so i gave up and bought a new celica instead... :P

lol well i cant say i have the cash flow for a new car :P

well ive been told that mitsubushi evo seats fit, so maybe i could source some of them......

corolla seats will fit but you need to do quite a lot of hacksawing or welding.

best bet would probalby be an aftermarket set of buckets like cobra or corbeau. you will need to do some hacksawing on them too but at least you get new seats.

alternately if there is enough interest I might consider welding some subframes up for a starlet.

do some for a paseo too please  then copyright them and sell the copyright to Sparco! :)

so you would be able to fabricate subframes for a starlet?

Would they pass on the MOT?

Any info is appreciated

Hou managed to put corolla seats in his car but had to get load of angle iron and hacksawing.

I'm thinking that standard box or I section with flat bits for the screws should sort that out. I wouldn't have to bolt the angle iron together as I could just weld it.

Not sure what the MOT regulations regarding seats are? sure someone does though? I was under the impression that they must tilt to allow access into the back and must lock securely.

Starlet seats are a pain in the backside because the rails attach in weird places. Cobra, corbeau and recaro don't make subframes for the car, hence the fitting of aftermarket seats is a headache.

i may just have rigid frames made and take out the rear seats and have a roll cage :)

why not just use the standard mountings, mount them to the seats, and try to modify it to work...i dunno

im not very good with fabrication and making it work like, i can do engine mods and styling, but not fabrication lol

i had plans to do that but the rails/mountings on mine are riveted to the seat bottom. so i didnt fancy doing that unless it was absolutely necessary.

you could do that but you'd end up with a seat that was about 2" higher than the stock position. also the mounting points on starlet seats wouldn't fit a sparco/cobra without an interface plate

The seats from a 2000 celica fit's a starlet with little mods. The red glanza we have here (most of you know that car) has the front seats in his car.

really? how much work mate? you got any pics for me? would be interested,an are all of the gen 7 celica seats the same?

cheers m8

does that mean you can then use celica seat brackets to fit other seats?

the g7 seats dont fit the paseo, u have to drill the rivets off the frames for both seats and then weld them back on, its not a massive job, a garage would probably charge you a £100 or so to do it, but I wouldnt recommend trying to do it unless you have all the right tools or a spare set of seats whilst its off the road as it not as easy as it looks!!

Ps the g6 celica seats are different to the g7 seats as well.

meh, id probably do it on my own when im uni....cause ill have time then

I don't have pics at the moment.......when i see the guy again i make some pics of the seats.

On the topic of seats, mine are for sale!

I have done about 2500 miles in them. They come complete with subframes custom made to fit in a uk spec starlet. All you need to do is fit them.

Seats complete with subframes 300 ono.
