2006 Yaris Verso

Came across, on the web, a copy of an AutoExpress article from 12 April (New Yaris MPV in the Pink) which stated that a new Yaris Verso is in the offing for 2006.

Anyone got a copy of the pics from the article? They aren't available in the web article and I gather the design is very different from the current model.

Also, Autoexpress quotes a Toyota spokesperson as saying it's unlikely to be in the UK 2006 Yaris range line up and the article encourages anyone wanting Toyota to change its mind to email Autoexpress and their local Toyota dealer.

If there are any other Yaris Verso fans out there (I know it isn't pretty but I can't be the only one!) a plea - please email Autoexpress and your Toyota dealer.

Yeah I remember seeing the photos but I've had a look online and I cant find any...... I definitely remember seeing photos somewhere though!!

I kinda remember it looking a bit more like a mini MPV - a little bit Renault Modus-ey! I'll keep my eye out for photos for you!

Of couse you will get support.. it's a Toyota.. this is a Toyota club, for Toyota owners.

Personally i think the verso is more practical car than the hatchback, loads more room in the boot (whatever a boot is ) but the styling isn't for me.. if we ever see those pics of the new model.. i may change my mind.

dunno if it is actually the real new Verso, but its pictured with the new Yaris and looks like an MPV version of the new Yaris....

Thanks for taking the time to look for pics of the 2006 Yaris Verso. Much appreciated.

I may also be wrong but I suspect, from what one can see, that the pic above the Vitz is a Nissan but it's the thought that counts so thanks a lot for trying. It's very frustrating when you know a pic was published in Autoexpress and then I go and miss it!

I emailed my dealer (as per the Autoexpress suggestion) to request info on the new Verso as and when it come in. Haven't had a reply - they probably think I'm a nut given the comment I had from one or two other dealers about the Verso variant. I still maintain though that if the design has significantly changed then Toyota should give it a go in the UK.

Maybe Toyota read these boards?

The Vitz is what the Yaris is called in Japan.

The purple car is a Nissan, yes, the bottom car is a new Toyota Vitz though, which you will see in the UK as the next generation Yaris. The one pictured is just a regular 5 door Vitz/Yaris though, not a Verso.

Its quite obviously a Nissan! I just saw the headlamps and they looked similar so I automatically assumed it was the new Verso....

Scionic - thanks for the responses on my quest to clap eyes on the 2006 Verso. Actually I am warming to the bB but suspect that, in the end, neither the bB nor the new Yaris Verso will be available from dealers in the UK so I won't be able to get anything that I want to replace my current Verso. Don't intend giving up though.

DA - Don't worry about the boob - when you get to my age not being able to see straight becomes a way of life! Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for that elusive photo. I guess I had hoped that someone on the Forum would have a stack of old Autoexpresses and could scan the pic from 12 April - dream on I think!

I'll let everyone know when my placard (Save the Yaris Verso) is ready and when I intend laying down in the front entrance of Toyota UK HQ

Welcome to the Yaris Verso self help group! Next step is to gt a few thousand more of us before we send a petition off to Toyota about the 2006 Verso replacement. I am assuming, of course, that Germany may be similarly denied access to the new model?

No problem, mate.

I'd say it's all but certain that the Yaris Verso will see a new version based on the recently revised Yaris (AKA the Vitz pictured above) but it wouldn't be unusual if the Verso variant wasn't available until as much as a year after the new Yaris is introduced. It's not uncommon for manufacturers to trickle new models out as they gear up production and the verso has a longer wheelbase than the standard Yaris (we share the same wheelbase bB and verso) so it will take a whole new design.

The question is, when this new YV comes out, where will it be sold? Is it difficult to import cars there? I know it's done. Here in America is is virtually impossible, no one does it. :(

It seems that if Toyota UK decides not to import whatever is replacing your current YV you could still buy one from Japan and import it yourself. At least you have the option.

I'm going to keep my ear to the ground for news on this for you though and i'll post as soon as I find something relevant.

Thought I'd just bump this thread up to the top again in case anyone has anything new to offer re the 2006 Yaris Verso.

I've been probing the nooks and crannies of the Internet but so far have drawn a blank. Loads on the Vitz (which I assume will become the new UK Yaris) but nothing on a replacement Funcargo (which, if we are lucky becomes the next Yaris Verso in the UK). <_<

On with the quest!
