Not if they wantto guarentee the correct part as even with the 1990 SW20 theres a good number of different chassis options which would mean that if they supplied the wrong part (slim chance I know) it's themselves to blame....

I know it's annoying but ithelps when they're oding therre job properly

Sorry Jon can't help but I've had the same problem trying to get a gear shift gaiter from a Corolla G6 to fit to my Corolla SR "Sorry sir we're not able to anything without a chassis number and trim code. " I was lucky that a mate has a G6 so he helped me out.

:o :o :o

I've ordered and supplied Toyota parts for nearly fifteen years now and I can quite clearly see where the "*****" of a partsperson" how you put it is coming from :cacker:  :censor: :censor:

A chassis number is required for most parts even service parts sometimes as Toyota tend to change parts specifications in the middle of a production run, for example you could have a Corolla with a chassiss number ending in 456 but the Corolla with chassis number 457 could have different parts even if both cars are identical spec

The parts guys and gals only ask for a chassis number so you the owner get the correct parts for your car.If anything the ****ers are the the owners who feel that they don't need to give a chassis number and then complain when they have the wrong parts :censor: :censor:

LOL i only wanted a quote on the rubber bushing for the rear trailing arm !!!!

Its appaling that they cant cross reference from car model and say 'it will be about 'insert guestimate here' but we wont be sure until we have the chassis no.

To just not bother looking or trying to help constitues a ****** in my book.

But........

On my way home from work i stopped in at Rayleigh Toyota as i needed the price and as soon as i pulled into the car park a guy came out and started asking about my car, he really liked it, turns out he has had 7  Rolla' Gti's although his current one is pink where its faded so much :P He spotted the South Africa spoilers and knew exactly what they were and where from, then he showed me a big wide mouth frog, sorry, Grill thats just arrived for his, i mentioned the pakfiefer kit as it looked similar and he said "i have the rear bumper and side skirts from them".......*****.

Anyway i went inside the office with him, there was some plonker on the computer saying "cant check without the chassis no. .....blah blah and another irate customer on the line" and then the guy dealing wiht me calls up the car on the PC cross references it and finds the part, then he said lets just check your chassis no. so we did and there was only one part.

I.E he looked firts before whinging.

Top bloke but £145 quid for the bushing as you have to buy the damn stub axle with it !!!

I'm off to fensport now.

fully recommend: Andrew Downes - After Sales Manager - Rayleigh Toyota

P.S. they're thinking of having a MR2 and Corolla day ?! took some photos of my car and asked it i'd be interested in turning up :)
