Hi all,

Just joined and i' m hoping someone here can help me.

Currently driving Yaris 1.0 5dr 1999 model.

Plan:

Upgrade sound system.

Progress to date:

1) Aftermarket headunit.

2) 6cd autochanger.

3) 1 set 6x9s on rear shelf.

Problem:

Front Speakers.

I want to upgrade the front components by fitting a set of Alpine SPX-107R up front. Now, i can get at the Speakers behind the door cards no problem but how do i get at the two Speakers underdash near the windscreen?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

just get a small flat head screwdriver and pry one of the corners up, and pull and the whole lot should come off, it's only clipped on, be carefull not to scratch the dash.

Ay, just clip them off.... and id recommend a bendy head screwdriver to undo the old Speakers.... it's a bit tight!

How have you guys hooked up the dash speakers?

Have you used the existing speaker wire?if so how have you attacked the connector to the speakers!cut it off???

CB

I've used the existing speaker wire, cut the connectors off and bought some of these; available from maplin, they crimp on and connect to the Speakers

(don't know what they are called)

I was hopeing to keep the original wiring in tact!

I have the proper connectors for the dor Speakers but just put the tweeters in the dash that came with theese Speakers but i was after some (10cm??) Speakers in the dash being driven from the HU aswell as the door speakers!

CB

Try caraudiosecurity.com. They do a range of 10cm(4") Speakers and the prices aren't half bad.

Spade connections! I used them too, just clip the connector off and whack the spade on!

Plenty of 10cms about... i'd recommend anything from Kenwood and JBL really. But if you have the money, go for some Focal's... they rule!

Is there any chance that the paasenger air bag might go off?

I doubt it would go off, unless your playing with it

Nah - you'll be fine with the airbag. I couldnt find my crimping tool at the time so used a pair of terminal blocks.

Nice and easy and means I can put the old ones back if I want to ... which I doubt I will.
