Erratic Speedo Behaviour

Hi,

Dont know if anyone can offer any help on this but my girlfriends car has started to do something odd.

It usually happens when doing about 65mph+ on the motorway.

For example we may be doing 70mph when all of a sudden the speedo needle will start dipping down to 40mph, 30mph, then back up to 70mph. Other times it will dip down to 30mph and kind of wobble there until we depart from the motorway and drop down to a much slower speed.

This doesnt seem to happen during normal driving about town.

While this is happening we have not changed speed at all, and the car engine, revs etc all remain normal, constant, and perfect sounding.

Anyone got any idea's as to what might be happening here? Faulty electrical connection behind the speedometer or something more serious?

I had something similar happen to my MR2 t and what it was, was a 7.5 amp fuse had blown in the fuse box in the engine bay, i think its the fuse for marked ECU-IG and when i replaced it the speedo worked fine again.
