:help:

Im after a free website for my football team. A few other teams in the league have forums and thats it, i want a site which lets you put picture pages up as well as a forum. Something like msn communities websites that people make, but i dont want one like that coz its pants!

Any ideas what sites offer that or might interest me?

Cheers in advance

Ian

Try www.freewebtools.com, I used it to make a very basic site just to post pictures of my newly-born nephew on so family in Australia & Germany could see them without me having to send them by email all the time. Dont know whether it's what you're looking for but its worth having a look at.

cheers yvvan, i used the one you gave me! looks familiar doesnt it :D

right iv had a few comments from other clubs, and i was wondering on that site you gave me, is it possible to upgrade to a premium service such as changing it to something like www.southshields-sundayleague.co.uk instead of all the crap before it like it is now www.getfreeforum.com/forums/

I know on the freewebs site it can easily be done, but on this freeforum thing i cant find anywhere.

Or is there any other sites that would let me create a forum for cheap but would let me have my own name as above.

cheers

Your own ISP should provide you with a fair bit of webspace as part of the package. I still have web space on my old ISP (cancelled with them nearly 4 years ago). Admitedly I haven't updated my site since then either. But it's still there.

Remember you get what you pay for generally. So if it's free, expect stuff like MSN comunities (or whatever it is now)

How about paying for a decent service. Decent webspace should be aroun £30 a year and you can get your domain name ".co.uk" for about 10 pound for 2 years.

Pm or msn me if you need more help.

If you're wanting your own domain, check out these people

click click

for about £20 you get a domain name, 50Mb web space, php and sql support, unlimited bandwidth, the list goes on.

Very very cheap.

A word of warning though, to have a forum it looks like you have to pay £199 a year for a database.

* I mean a forum with decent features, obviously there are different forums for different software but from experience you need a database for a decent one like invision or phpbb

Ive kind of just made a website now for my local floorball team and its easy. Ok, it is basic, but it gets all the information across nicely. The web based tools make it easy for someone with minimal computer/web skills! :D

That's if you want to use Microsoft SQL, mySQL is free (I'm reasonably sure anyway)
