Wheel Noise

I have a Yaris 1 litre 2002 manual. When the steering is on full lock to the right, i.e doing a 3 point turn, there is a click click click noise coming from the front nearside wheel. I've taken the wheel off to inspect but can see nothing wrong. The only thing i noticed that when i held the driveshaft and pushed it towards the gearbox and backwards there was play of about 2 millimetres but there was no rotational movement. Firstly is the play normal for the driveshaft and if not is it dangerous and secondly could it be the cause of the noise from the wheel? Any advice would be grateful

Get to a mechanic and get the CV joint looked at.. when these joints go you get a clicking sound when cornering. IF it is the cv joint, get it sorted asap as it IS dangerous to drive. (how does the cv boot look?? thats the rubber gator.. any signs of greese on the suspension or driveshafts etc.. if so then it will most likely be the cv joint has dried out and is clicking) I am NOT a mechanic.. so as such.. get a pro to look at it.
