1987 Carina Gt-r! Anyone Know About Them?

I have just rescued said car from under a tree as the previous owner sadly passed away. Since replacing the exhaust, ALL of it (QUIK FIT, £150 COMPLETE RIGHT NOW SPECIAL!) bypassing the cat, replacing the alternator - I now have the most scary car of my life (I have had a simple life). It's engine code is 3S-GE and it's chassis number starts with ST-162. It has electric everything, sports seats, blah blah - BUT - I wish to keep the car, but does anyone else in the UK have one? Could I get spares like body panels, windscreens, door mirrors easily? Looks very plain and boring - rather square with some attempts at sporty plastic addons and some nice alloys. Wheelspins in gears 1,2,3 and handles exceptionally. I really need to know what the GT-R tag means, and is there anything special about it. Don't think it has a turbo - Mind you, the engine bay is soooo packed I doubt if I could find it.

Thanking you in advance ....

Wow!

You've got quite a classic there! It is a Jap import as GT-R is a domestic model. This is the first FWD Carina. Engine and drivetrain wise, it shares quite a lot with Celica.

It is a rare car, and I think you should cherish it.

Yeah, nice one a very rare car over here!

Cal is right the 3S-GE is in the Celica and you could also use Celica wheels if you wanted to change them,

Mirrors and glass should be the same, panels are probably the same but the exterior trim and lights may be difficult to source.

You should definitely keep it and maybe show it!

Wow - thankyou for the quick response! Didn't realise what I had - will look after it a bit more from now on (no more nova eating!) - Unfortunately I have dented the panel on the front wing below the front bumper, :censor: so it's not as mint as it was. The paint is a bit flat and it needs a wing mirror. Celica ones don't fit due to the doors being pillarless. It may be sold to someone who appreciates what it is, as at the moment I just need a car to do the commute in, and I guess it deserves better than that. I would love to know if anyone else has got one though..... I cannot find anything on the net about it at all..... Here are some more pictures.

Due to taking delivery of a SERA, the above car is now for sale - £1600 with 9 months MOT and 3 months TAX, 80,000 kms, unmarked seats, all japanese handbooks etc.. etc.. FULL electrics, climate control, aircon, central locking, fridge(!), cd player, brand new exhaust system throughout .... I really would like this car to go to a good home - no test pilots or boy racers please - This really is an unforgiving car in the hands of a novice. - Please email info@fipzie.com. This is the only place that the car is for sale at the moment.

Thankyou

If only had the £1600, make sure that car does go to a loveing home, she's a beauty...

3S-GE is as Carl said shared amongst the Celica and Mk2 MR2 ( I have the same engine in mine and should be great fun to drive....

PLease, please, please make sure it's a Toyota Enthusiast who buys it and not some numpty of the street that car is indeed a classic, rare as rocking horse :censor: and deserves TLC.....

It's sad it must go, but after scraping the bottom of the front wing (repairable, thankfully) and your reaction on here - I really would like it to go to a real enthusiast who will not be doing 70 miles a day in it! It would be superb for track days or showing etc.. etc.. I don't want to advertise it in the standard places due to it possibly going to a baseball capped spotty lead-footed phool! Can anyone recommend a good place to sell?

SERA is being delivered friday - Much less grief than the last SARAH I had!!
