Rolling Road - Standard Ecu

Recommended Posts

now back in t'old days i could always take one of my cars - usually carburettored non ecu controlled ones for a rolling road setup and have the tuners tweak it a bit.

now i've fitted my downpipe and apexi filter my idling is a bit lumpy (as i expected from the change in air/fuel mixture), add to this i will be fitting my fcd and grainger valve before the weekend for japfest :D i would like to have the car tweaked on a rolling road,...

however

as i have NO form of piggyback controller (yet) can anything be done?

ive always been led to believe that the standard ecu isn't really tuneable.

please dont suggest fitting an SAFC or unichip, or similar as i aint got the cash, or time just yet to fit an item of this nature - can i rolling road tune my car as it stands now?

cheers

AFAIA your right...it ISN'T tuneable, timing is all that can be adjusted....usually advance it a tad I think.

Ideally you would get the SAFC....but yeah, $ you obviously don't have.

SAFC can be picked up cheap - I know of one that will be for sale soon ;)

But apart from timing there is nothing that can be done unfortunatly.

these are the answers i expected, and didn't want.

DOH :crybaby:

ah well, cheers fellas

bibbs how soon we looking at a cheap safc?

i've been looking at the safc2's on eBay for £155 from japan, but 20 quid postage and no doubt a big ol wedge of import tax is currently deterring me.

I'm swapping my gold (with white LED display) with Stu8 for his silver/blue one (as I want it to match my AVCR) .. I'd drop him a PM.
