Which tyres do you guys and gals have on the Yaris, I am just in the process of ordering and have pretty much decided upon a set of 4 Toyo T1s, but is there anything better available to me?

Pirelli i found are excellent and resonably priced

You haven't said what size.. at my work we would have supplied and fitted (balance ,valve and VAT) 4x 195/50x15 Toyo t1-s/t1-r for £160... 45 series tyres are more expensive though.. i wouldn't pay any more than 8 quid to get them fitted, including new valve and balance. (thats what we charge for change overs on 15")

Pirelli... nah!, would fit them to a peddle car,, jusy my opinion (bad experience with them)

Used to use Pirelli P6000s, now use Toyo T1S

- both good - but the Toyos are noticeably better

who are the toyo's made by? so you reckon there better than Pirelli? do they last longer? and are they the same price?, ive p6000's on mine now.

Far as I know Toyo is the actual manufacturer.

I used to have the pirellis on my standard rims - had at least two sets. Good tyres in all weathers and last ok.

The Toyos have at least as good handling wet and dry but the main difference for me is the road noise. The toyos have significantly less road 'roar'. This is turn makes for a less tiring long drive.

So far they have proven to be hard wearing ... oh and they look nice.

I've got 195/45 R15 Toyo T1-S all round on mine courtesy of Envy, and my rears have lasted 10 months and still have 5mm of tread on them, the fronts died last month but thats cos my wheels weren't alinged properly, I'd say they would have probably lasted a year on the front!

I wouldn't change from Toyo's now I don't think although if Eagle F1's came down in price I would proabably try them out!

Dunlop SP Sport 9000.... only had to change the front tyres at 18,000 miles. The rears still have 5mm of tread afte 3 years, the fronts have 6mm of tread since put on in november. They have superb grip, in the dry and the wet, they are ok for road noise (could be better) and they are reasonably priced.

Plus, in a different size they are standard fitment on the following (with variations of wheel size): Porsche Boxster S, Mercedes SL/CL 65 AMG, Mercedes E-Class (can't remeber which models) and the BMW 3 series with sports package.

Those are the one's iv found anyway, there are probably more, but i don't know them!

i thought the Evo VIII runs on Yokohama's standard? well the one on its press release was! i got a ride round in it (dads mate drove it for Mitsu) and i remember sitting on the piles of Enkei rims with the yokohama's on at the side of the rally track! (can you tell i adore Evo's? [Yari more obviously!])

slightly more on topic, my dad's focus runs on michelin Ghosts or something and he seems really impressed. (They called something like ghosts) I think he said they £100 a corner but i not sure if thats expensive or what? (I stil only 16!)

Maybe, but the Merc CL 65 has more torque than a bison being stung up the ubik! These tyres cope with that!

Also, the Porsche boxster and Beemer 3 series are regarded as the best in thier class for handling and grip. And highly rated for refinement.

Toyo's are also standard fitment for TVR too. (most models)

Whatever you get they have to be better than the pisspoor Goodyear GT2s that are fitted as standard to the French Yarii. Horrible, nasty, slippery things. The Bridgestione B391s fitted to Japanese cars are way superior.

EVERYONE says good thigs about the Toyos...

Yes, I'm getting wheelspin at times on the Goodyears when I'm not even trying. Embarassing to sound like a boy racer! :P

Tell me about it <_<

In the wet is awful, you try to get away from a junction modeately quickly and all that happens is that you sit still with the wheels spinning. Really atrocious

So, even without driving hard, would I notice the difference with T1s?

My French Yaris came with Bridgestones :D . They seem ok to me... too early to tell how long they are going to last though

Pass... I haven't got them but i think I will get them sometime in the summer when I've saved enough money for new wheels (hopefully...)

Oh! Did you get it new? If so then I'm obviously wrong... Is yours a T2/S? My S had Bridgestones* (B391s, 165/75 R13 if I remember correctly). They were so small and skinny they only cost £17.50+vat to replace

Actually they last ages, but I knocked mine early on so the tracking ended up knackered. If you don't end up with a misalignment then you should manage at least 40k on them before they need changed.

A

*what crap am I spouting 0 the S had bridgestones then I changed to Goodyears and the difference was obvious. #2 (Japanese diesel) had Bridgestones and was much quieter and better gripping than my current French diesel. One glass of wine and that's me...

Yep T2 skinny ones but grip OK dry or wet. 155/80 R13 so skinnier than on the S !!

Hear Hear! The Blue spins terribly all the time when pulling away moderately quickly in the wet - it's so annoying :ffs:
