Well as i mentioned before i am going to be touring europe for 2 months at the end of this month i depart, i would ideally like to take my bike and my friends bike along, but don't want them hanging over the boot due to width etc.

I do have the toyota roof bars and was considering using the uprite roof mounts for them, but firstly would like to check other peeps opinions of this, has anyone else done this and do you have any pics of them stood on roof (was there any damage etc)

Very greatful for all help

Nick

I have a rear mounted carrier, but I imagine that the roof mounted one would be much better. Just don't forget about it when you go into an underground carpark ;)

I'm an abid biker, as proved by attaching it to the car withing 3 days of owning it :)

i didn't think on the roof was good for handling/economy/looking a bit dumb (also with my bike being a Downhiller, it weighs enough to prob rooll the lil car over on roadabouts lol), but was worried about having it on the back due to the length of the bike...

Problem was solved by shifting over the posiiton on the rear, and taking off the front wheel... haven't tried with two bikes, but as long as you have quick release I've found that to be easiest....

If you can homemaking your own is best as you get a perfect fit, and can put your frame diagonally... (Mines a big chunky frame, so this was kinda useful)

If you're using a roof mounted system, make sure it's a good one.

Thule do superb cycle carriers ( if a bit pricey ).

I used to have a roof carrier when I had a Mini.....No problems at all. Easy to load/unload.

Wise Words from AlanBradley though. Don't forget that your car is 4 feet higher with a bike on the top. I only forgot once ( more embarassing than costly )
