To be honest I would have thought that the lowering springs for the facelift will be the same as the old one due to the fact that it was just cosmetic mods done.

You could try going directly to TTE to get them shipped and then get your local dealer to fit them.

I've had mine lowered at my dealer. I've got a 02 CTS as well. Mine was lowered by 30mm... whereas the facelift springs lowers by 20mm.....

I'm waiting to hear back from TTE about springs for my 03 model. The dealer has no problem fitting them, but because they aren't on the Toyota computer as an official option (as the are on the MR2 roadster for example) it will be as quick for me to get them from TTE as for them.

I wondered if TTE had an official importer. Fensport doesn't have anything on their site, but perhaps somebody else can ship them over.

Will let you know if I get a reply from TTE.

Cheers

Paul.

Hello,

I've had a reply back from TTE---they won't ship directly to customers, but your dealer can order them from Toyota GB by entering the following part number into the computer:

-PZ439-E0720-00-

I don't believe this part shows up by default, it has to be entered manually. Note that according to TGB, the car has to have the alignment checked/changed after fitting the springs, so I guess if you do it yourself you might want to get that done at the dealer.

Mine's going in on the 4th to have the springs fitted at the same time as another (aaargh) pair of new front tyres.

Paul.

I have a set of spax lowering springs going cheap, they were on my 52 plate cts for a 2 or 3 months before i got my coilovers, so although the red coating is starting to flake off there basically brand new, there -35mm, they make the car a lot better than standard!

I still have six months to run on the warranty, which will be honoured with TTE dealer-fitted springs. Much the same result otherwise I guess, though.

good point, when fitted by a toyota dealer the TTE springs will not invalid the warrenty, other springs will I would have thought! or at least any warrenty issues relating to suspension i would guess, dunno how it works.

Hello,

I've had the TTE springs fitted today. Here is the car (factory spec 2003) before,

And this is the result, lowered somewhere between 35-40mm on each axle,

I've done a before and after montage for the front and back wheels,

gallery_1446_168_1117916867.jpggallery_1446_168_1117916836.jpg

For the pleasure of owning this handy mod, the dealer charged £128 for the springs and then 3.5 hours fitting.

Whether or not this is good value depends I guess on what you are expecting. Certainly the car looks good, the handling is pleasantly firmer and the ride quality is still ok. It isn't quite as silky smooth as the old long springs, but it will still be comfortable on a long journey.

However, this is not a handling solution. It doesn't make the CTS corner like a Mini. It's just better than it was. I also notice the front doesn't rear up quite as much as it did before when you are at full throttle above 6200rpm. That's got to be good for the front wheel grip.

Sadly the dampers are going to take a pummelling as a result. The car is now very slightly under-damped, and you do notice it a bit. I'm wondering if when they finally give up they can be replaced with something cost-effective which matches the stiffer springs.

Still, I've modded the car and the warranty is intact. Hope that the insurance company doesn't try to hike the premium.

All in all I give this mod 7/10, and a thumbs up

Cheers

Paul.

hi

wish i could- but tte dont sell direct to customers - still i doubt if i'd have the guts anyways.

the things is toyota loughborough is saying:

1. yes the part number i got from paul is for lower springs but they are for all corolla's EXCEPT t-sport

2. but they could look into fitting it.... so i am waiting

My plan is to drop it 30mm, then on next tyre change put 205's. still figuring the ICE out though... cos i want to keep the color screen nav....

thanx

They probably have the ones for the diesel models which is different? Other than that, the petrol models all use the same TTE springs including the TSport....

hi i ain't an expert in this area, so i just wanted to ask, do the dampers get too damaged by use after fitting a set of lowering springs?

i know this all depends on driving conditions, but considering that our road surfaces aren't the best you'll find do you think that they will wear out quickly?

and if they do, are just normal dampers expensive to replace. i'm asking since i'm on the verge of buying a set of springs but this thing worries me slightly...

thanks.
