Am I Runnin Rich

i read somewhere that if your plugs are all black and sutty its runnin rich or lean or something, how would i fix this, does it need tuning

Black sooty plugs is generally an indicator that the engine is running rich. It could be caused by a number of things. Make sure the air filter is clean, the plugs,leads,distributer cap and rotor arm are all in good shape, ignition timing is set correctly and that you dont always wear your lead boots.

If everything appears to be in good shape get your lambda sensor checked out. When they fail the car runs very rich.

what is the lambda sensor i have read about a few times. Is it something to do with your oxygen sensor or something??

yeah if i member right the lamda sensor connects to the downpipe and senses the o2 levels in the fumes
