Ive just bought a 1975 TA22 celica, it should arrive in a couple of weeks. its been standing for 6 years in a shed but apparently was running before that. I'm sure Ill be posting in here regularly looking for parts etc. No Idea what its going to need as Ive only seen pics or even if Ill be able to get it running, but decided I needed something different after spending the last 4 years bodystying my paseo and then my gen7 celica. Do these car come with twin carbs as standard? Just have seen a few engine pics with what looks like two air filters?

The standard UK 22ST has the 2T-B engine with two Aisan twin-choke down-draught carbs, so yes.

Good luck!

wohoo, Ive always loved the idea of twin carbs - wanted to fit em on my old mini, but my dad (he's a mechanic) says that they're a pain to get them to run right when theyre old, but im sure ill get theyre in the end.

Yeap!!! your father is right! I have a TA22 75' Celica ST Jap model and it have twins carbs in a 2TE engine, an original, nothing changed (jet). Since 5 or 9 years ago, my father and I had to work with the carbs by our selves, buying other single carbs from Datsuns, Nissan, Coronas, etc. and taking some parts out from those , just to fix our twin carb. :D We are not mechanics but when no one in your country can deal with it, well, you have to figure out by your self.

But, bout 3 years ago one carb just stop working and we couldnt fix it back, it harm 2 pistons and some other parts according the mechanic I went to, so since then my baby is parked in front of my house.

Right now I'm waiting for some cash to start to fix him (my baby celica) back, probably by next week.

Im thinking to change the twin carbs, installing an adapter for one single carb, meanwhile I manage to see if I can find an original twin carbs.

So, PaseoGT4, we can be in touch concerning tips for our clasic 75' babies. I have some pics of mine if anybody wants to see it.

So, if you or someone have any tips for me about my crazy-carb-changing-idea, im happy to hear them!!!! :help:

This is my mail careloco9@hotmail.com for some tips.

Celicas Rules!!!!

I will keep an eye out for a pair of twic carbs when I start looking for parts and if I find some I will let you know, my dad had a store full of old carb's -approx 200 that were still good but we threw them out in december because we hadnt used any of them for 5 or 6 years. Wish Id held onto them or at least stuck them on eBay..

after 3 days of straight work, the celica is up and running. Complete brakes overhaul - they were seized, every cable was seized, accelerator, brake, clutch, choke,

clutch was gone, gearbox needed an overhaul, new Battery and a few other bits.

Starts 1st time now and runs beautiful. Soon be ready for an MOT, no pics yet but they will come soon.

Already got a new set of wheels to go on.
