Rav4 Petrol Tank Again

I have put this in also as a reply to my original posting but thought a new posting might catch the eye better. I apaologise for taking up this extra space on the forum.

Even if you havn't taken the tank out but have a manual or any info. this would be very welcome. Since my original posting I think the leak is not actually from the tank but from where the flexible fuel line is connected to the solid one coming out of the the top of the tank. To confirm this will require me to drop the tank at least partially if not actually remove it. By the way I amn pretty certain it is a single tank which is made very shallow and goes across the breadth of the car. This will be for ground clearance. Please pass on any ideas. Obviously others are interested.

My 96 five door failed its MOT on a petrol leak, Toyota fixed it and changed what is called the "bracket" ontop of the tank. The bracket is the plate you can see if you roll back the carpet under the rear nearside seat. It has the petrol in/out pipes mounted on its top and underneath, in the tank itself , has the sender unit/pump bolted to it. In my case one of the pipes was leaking (metal pipe changing to rubber) The whole assembly bracket was rusty and they had to drill out the six screws securing it to the tank. One good thing was that the top bracket is renewable on its own albiet aprox £50 plus labour. Hate to think what the whole sender assembly would have cost.
