Checking Coolant

I'm travelling down to Devon tomorrow for a week away with my g/f. I want to check the coolant level before we go, it seems very difficult to see the level. What's the best way to check it? Thanks.

dont bother trying to see the level in the expansion tank - as you say it is difficult and considered by most as not an effective way of checking the coolant level (i recall the manual stating it should be half full - you can check this by removing the rubber tube and seeing how far up it is wet),...anyway

take the radiator cap off the main pipe in the engine bay and fill / check there. the fluid should be at the top of the pipe - if it isnt fill it until it is

p.s its a small hole - fill it slowly as all of a sudden it becomes visible and full.
