Mpg On 2002 1.6

I havent had my corolla 1.6 for very long. Intially i got 41mpg out of it which i thought was very good. However i stopped filling up with Shell optimax (since the prices went sky high in the UK) and put normal Shell fuel in instead. I keep the tires in check and i put Shell engine oil in too. Since then my MPG counter is showing 56mpg now.

Somehow i cant believe that! Even though i think i drive economicly by hardly changing gear and pulling off in 2nd its still un-realistic dont you think? I also drive the tsport annd rav 4, rather lucky my better half works for toyota and brings home different cars to drive. Both of those achieve around 32-34mpg.

If you can beat me on my 72.6mpg then i think we both got excellent value cars

I think you need to re-set it everytime you fill up, otherwise, it will show what you got as an average mpg (this could mean that you last re-set it some 5000miles ago, if you see what i mean)

Yea i think i should re-set it, i shall investigate! Its on 61.4mpg now which is nuts and cannot be true.

Its more than those silly smart roadsters one of my work colleagues has.

You must reset it or it will count all the miles you have ever done.

I reset mine when I fill up and it usually shows around 33 mpg.
