Is It A Good Deal

Hi everyone

Just bought a new 1.3 vvt-i colour collection in Eclispe Black, thee dealer rang me to see if we wanted to change and we went along for a look. We went with the air that we wasnt going to buy a new car, but the colour collection looked so good from our D-4D.

They knocked £1000 off the purchase price off 10095 to 9095 and it came with 2 years free servicing. They gave us around £6000 for ours and did the rest on finance at 4.2% apr.

GAP insurance was £300 and he wasnt prepared to give it us for free, and the suprgard we were not interested in coz we had it on our chilli red d-4d and it didnt really make that much difference.

Is it a good deal?

Cheers

Getting it in 3 weeks....

Certainly a very good deal on the finance.. would be hard pushed to better 4.2%

Is that for a three or five door? It's a very good deal if for a five door. Still good if for a 3 door though (usually add £500 for 5 door). Mine was £700 more than that and I did well (for the time). Check out a few dealers though because they are doing good deals on Colour Collections at the moment.

Hi and welcome...

Sorry to lose an oil burner before you've actually posted, but even those petrol models are quite good

Thanks for the kind welcome guys, its the 5dr model. Been very happy with the diesel but its not getting the mileage to warrant keeping it, and I wasnt gona spend the money upgrading the air filter. So I thought I might as well get petrol and get the toys I wanted when I bought the diesel.

Cheers

Good bunch of people on this forum

That makes sense... you have to be doing a fair few miles to make it pay for itself. If I hadn't gone for the diesel I could have had aircon and stuff with the price difference - I'm not unhappy with it though ;)

Hope you'll stick around,

Alan

Hiya, welcome :D

That sounds like a good price you got to me :) Enjoy!

Now we know it's a five door, it is indeed a very good price. Enjoy your new car.

4.2% is very good - you are sure it is apr and not flate rate ?

yeah - that was my thinking, it has to be a flat rate, as the BoE base rate is higher than that...

Anyway, the car sounds reasonable, you certainley havent been ripped off.. but check the loan agreement numbers, I think you'll find the APR closer to 10% than 4 ;)

Thanks guys I'll make sure to ask, I'm signing the finance tomorrow.

Not before putting a few miles on our car before we get it, going up to inverness at the weekend.

If i see you i'll wave.. if your on the Forth Road Bridge at about 8.30 am in the morning, as i cross it on my way to work (remember.. you will need your passport to enter Fife.. or you will have to bribe the guard in the imigration booth.. a quid does the job)

Will do! Mine's a slightly low black 3 door with a Toyota Owner's Club sticker in the back

Cfc, you'd think they'd make more money charging people to leave Fife..

My 3-Door 1.3 Colour Collection, with air-con and spoiler (£500) and part-ex (£250), cost £7619 so I reckon you should be looking at £7869 (extra £500 for 5-door cancelled by extra £500 for air-con, and minus the £250 part-ex). The real question is whether your part-ex is worth £6000, or have they bumped this up to make the deal more attractive. A quick glance at autotrader shows a 53 D-4D T2 going for £5995. Was yours a T2 or higher trim? Whats 2 years free servicing worth?

I would have said you could knock at least a grand off the price, but I was paying cash not finance, so probably harder to get as good a deal.
