I'm off to view a 96 surf in a little bit, anything that I should look out for other than the obvious leaks etc?

Cheers,

Sean (soon to be a full TOC member if all goes well)

Not a lot to say really as they are stronger than a tank but the thing to look out for is if its the 2.4 turbo diesel as they are known for cracking clylinder heads so look for white smoke whilst driving when the engine is warm, but dont let this put you off the 2.4 as i have a 91 and its the best car ive ever owned.

Best of luck and hope to hear you are the proud new owner of a Surf

The bloke put in the ad that it's a 3000cc, but I was under the impression that they were all 2400cc.

Goes to show what I know!!!!

there were three main engines in the Surfs a 2.4 td , 3.0 td , and they also made a 3.0 V6 petrol

He might get the TV to work with a DVD player convertor, but the Sat/Nav will not work, and the mirror is not a lot of good if it has the rear door spare wheel.

Yes already sourced a converter chip for about £70.

The spare wheel does obscure the vision slighty but its still a handy tool. :)

are you raising or lowering it? lol

Not this one. ;)

standard?? :o

More or less, I'll probably get a A-Bar and some Spots but that will be it.

I'm also buying another Hilux but a pickup and i'll be raising that one.

Was the chip to convert the TV, if so can you give more details.

Just found out I got it wrong on the tv thingy!

To get the tv to work, some of the internals need to be replaced, at a high price I've been informed (not sure if I was being fobbed off or not?)
